Hey!
So, today marks the third P-day out here in GongJu and to be honest its going by quick. By the time some of you will read this email I would have been a missionary for 7 months now which is just absolutely insane to think about. Both in the fact that its somehow been 7 months and also that I have 17 left. I pretty much just started a Sister missionary's mission haha. Anyways, this week was eventful but not in the ways you might think so lets just jump into it!
Mission Tour w/Christopher Kim and Sister Hong
So this week we had a mission tour with general authority seventy Elder Christopher Kim and his wife Sister Hong. Elder Kim gave a general conference talk in april of 2025 so thats how some of you may recognize his name. Him and his wife are two amazing people. The amount of love, time, and dedication they gave for this week was just phenomenal! I learned a lot from what they taught. Their main message from what I interpreted was “You don't have to be perfect, to be a perfect missionary." Neither of them had actually said that quote directly but I thought it was bars so I'm throwing it in there anyway. Basically what I mean by this is that all we can do as missionaries is simply our best. We don't have to always be perfect in everything we do. In fact I believe its important to be imperfect as a missionary. It’s how you learn. I had really been struggling this transfer especially with Korean. I had always thought that I needed to be perfect with it or that if I wasn't good enough I wouldn't be able to do missionary work, that is simply not the case. The way you do missionary work is not by having the best korean, the best companion, or even by being the most obedient. It is simply always striving to do your best to have the spirit with you. Because if all you amount to in the end was being in tune with the spirit then He will take care of the rest. With that said I have had to think a lot differently lately. I had always thought the key to my success as a missionary was to find a way to either baptize hundreds, be perfect at Korean, or even be incredibly obedient. The real key is to always try my best. Accept failure not as a weakness but as a way to come back stronger. I can do that by trying to always be in tune with the spirit.
So, yeah I thought it was great to have been able to listen to their wise counsel. It was also fun to see a bunch of other missionaries at the zone conference/tour in the Daejeon ward building. It was crazy to see one of my good friends from back home who is also serving here in Korea. So, big Shoutout to Sister Poppy Hatfield, hope Cheonan is treating you well, Lets go B-Town!
All around good mission tour, I wish we had one every transfer haha. It would get people hyped up for sure.
Conclusion
Nothin' else crazy happened this week. We're slowly getting our friend closer to baptism we just need him to come to church and teach him a couple more things so please pray for him. My companion was dropping some bars (knowledge) during Elders Quorum and Relief Society. Basically he had prepared this quick 10 minute presentation he wanted to give to the ward but we had to do it during the different classes. It was all about how we as a ward needed to be participating in missionary work more. He then taught about Love, Share, and Invite. He then gave a tie to a Brother in Elders Quorum and one to a Sister in Relief Society. He then said whoever has the tie this week needs to use Love, Share, and Invite on a friend. Then we promised that if we can do this we can see more success and a larger growth in the ward.
So, pretty cool. Lets go Elder Willis.
Thats pretty much it, I hope each of you have been having a great week. General Conference is close... I think...? I don't even know by this point lol. Anyway, keep showing love. God loves y'all.
I Love Y'all
